FULL DAY SANDOVAL LAKE Boat ride to trail leading to Sandoval Lake,
walk, ride on Lake, lunch, rest and return to ecolodge. Participants will
see a variety of fauna (widgeon, cranes and macaws) and flora (seiba and

CATAMARAN EXPEDITION TO GAMITANA GORGE AND LOBOYOC MARSHLANDS Catamaran
trip on Madre de Dios River to the Gamitana gorge. Activities: fishing,
lunch, rest at the lookout and boat trip through the gorge. Walk to the
Loboyoc marshlands. Fauna include Grant River Otters, caimans (alligators),
cranes and macaws. DAILY. Duration: 10.5 hours. From 6:00 to 16:30. Catamaran,
boat and on foot.
DAWN SUNRISE ON THE MADRE DE DIOS RIVER Catamaran ride and breakfast
on the Madre de Dios River to observe the parrots at the collpa next to
RESERVA AMAZONICA. DAILY (depending on climate). Duration: 3 hours. From
6:00 to 9:00. Catamaran.
MORNING AND AFTERNOON AMAZON TRAILS Walk on the trails at RESERVA
AMAZONICA to observe Amazon flora and fauna. DAILY. Duration: 4 hours.
From 8:00 to 12:00.and from 15:00 to 17:30. On foot.
ORCHID AND ETHNOBOTANICAL TRAIL Walk on a trail to observe the many
orchid species and to visit the ethno-botanical garden. Explanation and
recommendations of medicinal plants and their curative properties. DAILY.
Duration: 4 hours. From 8:00 to 12:00 and from 15:00 to 17:30. On foot.
NATIVE PLOT Boat trip to a typical native farm plot. Participants
can observe the variety of Amazon crops and taste local tropical fruits.
DAILY. Duration: 3.5 hours. From 8:00 to 11:30 and from 15:00 to 17:30.

SANDOVAL LAKE Boat trip to the trail to reach Sandoval Lake, walk,

the opportunity to observe a large variety of Amazon flora and fauna. DAILY.

ISLA DE LOS MONOS Boat trip to Isla de los Monos and a one-kilometer
walk across the island to view the variety of riverside primates and vegetation.
DAILY (depending on climate). Duration: 3.5 hours. From 8:00 to 11:30 and
from 15:30 to 18:00.
ECO-ACTIVITIES RESERVA AMAZONICA, INKATERRA 9 / 10 EVENING:
- SLIDE SHOW Scientists present a slide show and an informative, talk
on their experiences with the flora and fauna at RESERVA AMAZONICA. The
show will take place at the ecolodge. Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Duration:
1 hour. From 20:30 to 21:30.
GUIDED EVENING WALK: Rainforest by Night Walk through the rainforest,
accompanied by an expert in nocturnal excursions in wild areas, to observe
the variety of fauna (bats, monkeys, owls, snakes) and experience the sounds
of the rainforest at night. DAILY. Begins at: 20:30. Group decides when
it ends. On foot.
FIESTA PACA: The Rainforest Party An evening of camaraderie, fun
and relaxation around a campfire, with local music and exotic drinks. Saturday.
Duration: 3.5 hours From 19:00 to 22:30.
IN THE CITY CITY TOUR Guided tour of the main streets and square
of Puerto Maldonado. Visit to the lookout (panoramic view of the Madre
de Dios River) with the option to shop for local crafts. DAILY. The hours
vary depending on flight arrival and departure times. Bus.
VISIT TO THE BUTTERFLY HOUSE Exhibit of different colorful species
of Amazon butterflies. DAILY. Duration: 1 hour. The hours vary depending
on flight arrival and departure times. Bus.
ACTIVITIES FOR AN ADDITIONAL FEE:
- CANOPY CLIMBING Climb up trees with ropes and special harnesses
to observe the variety of fauna and flora of the Amazon rainforest. Strict
safety measures will be observed. An expert climber will assist participants.
DAILY. Duration: 3 hours. From: 8:00 to 11:00 and from 15:00 to 17:00.
On foot.
- DINNER AND STAR GAZING ON THE RIVER Dinner in a catamaran on the
Madre de Dios River, under a star-filled sky. Explanation by a specialized
guide. Possible caiman (alligator) sightings. Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday.
Duration: 3 hours. From 19:00 to 22:00. Catamaran.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
LOCATION AND ACCESS: RESERVA AMAZONICA is in the southern Peruvian
Amazon, in Madre de Dios Department, Tambopata Province, an hour's boat
ride from the City of Puerto Maldonado (the capital of the department).
There are daily flights to Puerto Maldonado from Lima and Cusco
(lasting 1 hour and 25 minutes, respectively). Upon arrival at the Puerto
Maldonado airport, visitors take the RESERVA AMAZONICA bus to the city's
river port, and a 45 minute boat trip takes them to the ecolodge.
LOCATION OF PUERTO MALDONADO, ALTITUDE AND CLIMATE: Puerto Maldonado
is located at 256 meters above sea level. The city is located on the right
bank of the Madre de Dios River and the left bank of the Tambopata River.
The climate is hot, humid and rainy (from December to March. The average
annual temperature is 25°C (77 F), reaching a maximum of 38°C (100
F). Occasionally, there is a sudden drop in temperature known as "friaje",
sometimes dipping to as low as 10°C (50 F). This phenomenon lasts between
one and seven days and occurs between June and September.
GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS: For the visit to RESERVA AMAZONICA, long
slacks, long-sleeved, lightweight shirts of dark or opaque colors, tennis
shoes or hiking boots, baseball cap, sunglasses and raincoat are recommended.
T-shirt, shorts and sandals can be worn inside the screened areas of RESERVA
AMAZ ONICA. Warm clothing to be worn in the case of friajes. Camera or
video camera with case for protection against the humidity and rain. Mosquito
repellent. Binoculars. Although it is not required for entry into the country
or the RESERVA AMAZONICA region, visitors should get a yellow fever vaccination.
