Cruise is aboard the M/V Arca. The M/V Arca is a 31 passenger steel
hulled riverboat which was built 1988. In 2001, it was refurbished for
speed and comfort on the Amazon. Its 8 twin (lower/upper beds), 2 triple
(lower beds) and 3 triple/quadruple (bunk beds) cabins are fitted in Cedar
and Amazon Mahogany. Each cabin is air-conditioned and has private bath
and shower. There is an enclosed, air-conditioned dining room, a bar, and
sun deck areas fore and aft (both covered and uncovered).

Day 01-Sunday: Depart at approximately 10:00 am on the
M/V Arca. Sail up the Amazon River passing small farming villages and groups
of river people (Ribereños) fishing. In the evening, we値l arrive
at the juncture of the Ucayali and Marañon rivers, the two rivers
that merge to form the Amazon River. Continue up the Marañon River.

Day 02-Monday: Now on the Marañon River, we値l
make our first foray into the 5+ million acre Pacaya-Samiria Reserve at
San Martin Lake. This vast black-water lake has a large concentration of
bird and aquatic life. We値l explore the area by small boat and walking
through the forest. We値l have the opportunity to visit a native village
in which the people痴 lives depend upon the rainforest and river environments.
Late afternoon hike is possible. After dark, we値l explore the area in
the small boats in search of wildlife such as caiman, snakes and night
monkeys. You will have an opportunity to listen to the incredible sounds
of the rainforest at night.

Day 03-Tuesday: Continue on the Marañon River.
We値l have an early morning wildlife watching excursion before breakfast.
After breakfast we値l have time to do some piranha fishing. In the afternoon
we値l do a rainforest hike to explore the unique plant and animal community
of the tropical rainforest. Later, we値l continue sailing up the Marañon
River. We値l have a night excursion for those interested.

Day 04-Wednesday: Morning finds us at Nueva Esperanza
village. Go by small boat into another area of the Pacaya-Samiria National
Reserve. Visit Pinchi Lake where we will have good opportunities to see
monkeys and try fishing for piranha and other species of fish. Return to
the ship and continue up the Marañon River. Nighttime jungle hike.

Day 05-Thursday: Morning arrival at the river village
of Lagunas, our third stop in the national reserve. Full day trip to Tibilo
Creek and ranger station for a hike in the forest. A canoe trip will take
you deep into this attractive area full of flora and fauna. Time for a
swim in a dark water lake. Later that night, sail out of the Marañon
River and into the faster moving waters of the Huallaga River, continuing
upstream. Nighttime excursion away from the boat.

Day 06-Friday: Disembark at the river port of Yurimaguas,
at the base of the Peruvian Andes. Transfer upon request, by road from
the lowland rainforest up through cloud forest to Tarapoto. Several stops
on the way to explore and take photos. Upon arrival in Tarapoto fly on
to Lima.
Yurimaguas to Iquitos cruise 6 days / 5 night - Departs Yurimaguas
on selected Sundays.

Day 01-Sunday: Depart Yurimaguas at approximately 12:00
noon. The river is now called the Huallaga. Lunch will be served on board.
Afternoon shore excursion with lots of opportunities to observe wildlife
and flora of the lowlands of the Amazon River basin. Dinner on board, while
the ship continues sailing down the Huallaga River.

Day 02-Monday: An early morning bird watching trip before
breakfast and later a visit to the river port of Lagunas. Full day excursion
for our first visit into the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve. A canoe ride
will take you deep in this area of the jungle. Jungle walk along the Tibilo
Creek, a seldom visited area. In the evening enter the Marañon River,
an even larger tributary of the Amazon River.

Day 03 -Tuesday: Early morning arrival at Nueva Esperanca
village. Shore excursion to Pinchi Lake to see monkeys and a large variety
of birds. Try your luck at piranha fishing. Return to ship for lunch. Late
afternoon visit to the river town of Parinari.

Day 04 -Wednesday: After breakfast arrival at the Samiria
River and San Martin Lake. Visit a native community, native handicrafts
available for purchasing or trading. Sail up the Samiria River and anchor.
Now, the night sounds of the jungle are all around you. Night boat excursion
to spot caiman and other night creatures along the shores of this river
area.

Day 05 -Thursday: Following breakfast on board we will
start down the Samiria River. Mid-afternoon re-enter the Marañon
River and continue sailing. Late evening we will pass the juncture of the
Marañon and Ucayali rivers, where the true Amazon river begins.

Day 06 -Friday: Morning shore excursion and jungle walk
at the Tahuayo River. After lunch on board, arrival in Iquitos. Transfer
to airport or hotel, if desired.
